How To Take Your Dog's Paw Print

The most frequently asked question on the Pet Lover Collection by some of our clients is: how do I take my dog's paw print? And while it is tricky, it is not complicated.

In this post, we will explain how to take the perfect paw print to engrave on your jewelry. There are several ways you can take your dog paw print safely, depending on what you will be using it for. This time, we'll be using it to have engraved on a piece of jewelry, so we prefer using non-toxic ink.

What you will need:

  1. Paper, the regular bond/copier sheet will do.
  2. Ink Pad, we recommend ColorBox Pigment Ink Pad.

Step 1

Press your dog's paw on the ink pad. Make sure the underneath surface of the paw is covered in ink.

Step 2

Now, this is the part where it may get tricky. You need to press your dog’s paw onto the paper. In this step, you need to press on all the areas of the paw to get an even print while making sure you’re not moving the paw around so the print doesn't smudge.

Step 3

Slowly and carefully, lift your dog's paw from the page and proceed to wash its paw with soapy water.

We suggest you leave the page on a flat surface and in an environment where it can dry easily, for at least 24 hours.

Once the print has fully dried, you can scan the page and email it to us.
